God’s Side FWC and @theRECtampa making an impact in a big way!
[Tampa, FL — April 23rd, 2022] Pastor Danny C. Osborne and his wife Katrina Osborne will be welcoming Ms. Carla Francis of Old Harbour, Jamaica to their church God’s Side Family Worship Center located on 3101 E. Lake Ave, Tampa, FL 33610. Church will begin this Sunday at 10am, where they will celebrate Carla’s first trip to the United States. She will be here in the Central Florida area throughout her fitting and adjustment period. They have a small ministry, and their motto is “Love makes the difference.” When these organizations get together to do something as significant as what will be happening for Carla, it shows the power of community, empowerment, support, connections, and Christ.
They were able to support Ms. Francis in getting a prosthetic that she has dreamed of for over a decade. During her stay in Central Florida food and transportation with be provided by God’s Side FWC and @theRECtampa, Lodging and Therapy is being provided by 50 Legs, and last but certainly not least Prosthetic and Orthotic Associates will provide her prosthetic. Recently honored for Outstanding Service by Coaching Dreams into Success (CDIS) @theRECtampa was able to purchase the airline ticket for Carla’s flight.
Here is a little bit about her story:
“My name is Carla Francis, and I lost my left leg in March of 2010 at 22 years old in an accident. My mother passed in 2000 and my father in 2010, without both of my parents I was left to take care of myself. Through the years I have experienced post traumatic syndrome disorder, depression, anxiety and have extremely low self-esteem, which contributes to my inability to socialize. I was introduced to Pastor Danny Osborne (Pastor Oz) of DCO Ministries International, Inc. and Katrina Osborne of ALK of FL Inc, d/b/a The Resource Empowerment Centre — @theRECtampa (both of Tampa Florida) and after hearing my story they were compelled to support me. This is where the research started for us all. The Osborne’s tapped into their network of resources and sent out a “Call To Action” for my dilemma and the call was answered by a community
partner who introduced us to a young lady by the name of Brittany Robinson, Licensed Certified Prosthetist-Orthotist with Hangar, Inc. who referred us to the 50 Legs Organization.
I have researched this for years. The cost of for a limb including physiotherapy is about 5,000 to 10,000 dollars and I have been informed that the knee is the most expensive part. This portion of the Limb must be imported.
I desire to author a book about my story to inspire people who have been through similar circumstances. Working as a RN would allow me to give back by helping children and young adult amputees. Since my introduction to Pastor Oz, I am hopeful and know that God has a plan for my life, and I feel confident and pray daily that I will acquire a prosthetic for my left leg (above the knee).”
Pastor Osborne affectionately known as Pastor OZ to his congregation members, reminds us that we should help our brothers and sisters when we can.
“So, continue encouraging each other and building each other up, just like you are doing already.”
